IDPP Executive Director Speaks on AI & Climate at AU’s New EDH Series

American University launched its new What Is SustAInable? event series this week with a conversation on the intersection of AI and climate governance. The Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP) is proud to highlight Executive Director Dr. Derrick L. Cogburn as a featured speaker in the inaugural session, “AI & Climate: Challenges, Opportunities & Risks,” held on November 17 in the Mary Graydon Center, Room 305.

Dr. Cogburn joins former U.S. climate diplomat Erwin Rose to examine how AI is shaping global sustainability efforts, environmental decision-making, and international climate policy. This event opens the American University Environment, Development, and Health Department’s (EDH) new series exploring how emerging technologies can both support and complicate climate action. IDPP continues contributing research and expertise to ensure that advances in AI align with inclusive, rights-based, and sustainable governance frameworks.
