The Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP) was thrilled to host a special visit by an international delegation from Colombia as part of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The group visited Washington, D.C. for a program titled “Social Inclusion Development for Persons with Disabilities.” On Tuesday, October 15, IDPP hosted the delegation for a discussion on global, regional, and national disability policies.
The meeting included an overview of the Institute’s ongoing efforts in crafting and implementing public policies for persons with disabilities. During the visit, the teams used translation software to communicate, and many touching personal stories and insights were shared. This unique opportunity, suggested by the State Department and the Colombian Embassy, highlighted IDPP as a key resource in advancing social inclusion for people with disabilities.
We were honored to participate in this important dialogue and to contribute to the international conversation on disability rights and public policy. Photos from the visit can be found below.
