AI and LLM Workshop on Prompt Engineering by IDPP Executive Director

Fall 2024 American University Center for Teaching, Research & Learning (CTRL) Workshops on Artificial Intelligence in Teaching & Research have begun!

On Wednesday, October 30, join us for an insightful workshop titled “Demystifying AI and Large Language Models: Prompt Engineering and Strategies for Teaching and Research.”

Led by Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP) Executive Director and Internet Governance Lab (IGL) Co-Director Dr. Derrick Cogburn, this session will explore the foundational technologies behind LLMs, including machine learning and deep learning, and will introduce transformers, which led to the development of GPT models. Attendees will gain hands-on experience with prompt engineering to maximize the capabilities of tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and AI Studio.

This interactive workshop will also showcase various AI tools through a graphical user interface (GUI), equipping educators and researchers with strategies to leverage these technologies for teaching and research.
